“I attended OLPH for nine years and I can honestly say I enjoyed every bit of my time here. I graduated about two years ago and some of my best memories were from middle school. Mrs. Soffiatti, who teaches History and Science, had a very energetic personality that made learning very entertaining without leaving you bored or lost. She always tried to include everyone in group discussion and she would even have tutoring sessions in the morning for those who needed it. In her class I also learned basic skills that every student should have, such as taking notes quickly, but also getting everything you need and importance of being punctual. I enjoyed her class and greatly appreciated that she could be seen as more than a teacher, but also a friend. Mr. Albert is probably one of smartest people I have met, even though he disagreed. He taught Math and Theology and always had a great story to tell about his brothers or his time in the military. In the class, he never taught straight out of the textbook, but had a more involved approach to teaching. We would do worksheets to improve speed and make something like plotting points on a coordinate plane, actually fun. When it came to teaching Theology he also taught in a unique way. He would relate what we learned to some of his life stories, such as his childhood, college years, past employment or his brother Mark. Apart from his stories and personality what I appreciated most about Mr.Albert was that he didn't just read from a textbook, he actually knew what he was talking about instead of just spitting out Bible verses or saying things like."That's just how God works" to dismiss questions about the faith. The environment is just so inviting at OLPH. The core class aren't just teachers reading from a PowerPoint, which makes them actually engaging, Coach Parks made P.E fun when we would all play volleyball, badminton or any other sports as a class, and the food was always amazing. I'm not exaggerating, the food was always delicious and I would constantly try to get seconds, even if I was told "no' the first time. Mr. Perez always made lunch amazing with her enchiladas, crispy tacos, Fideo, Asian Chicken or her ham tortas. Like any person, you probably won't like everything on the menu, but every week you're going to be excited to go to lunch. I really enjoyed this school, but it does have its problems. In my later middle school years I only saw one though, parents who simply didn't care about their kids' grades or conduct. The teachers do their part, and sometimes more than they should, but that only goes so far when you have a kid failing 3 classes and the mother or father doesn't even bat an eye. When the school tries to enforce discipline the kids just laugh it off and when they get detentions the parents just treat it as free daycare. However, there are also great kids at this school. Those who study for every quiz or test, or if they don't study they get an A or a B, those that participate in class and those that get along great with their teachers. Some of my happiest times were here, from seeing the sisters bring bread from the church to hungry kids at daycare, to helping clean the classroom with teachers in preparation for summer, and even to helping take out the trash when Mr. Negrete wasn't feeling well. I loved OLPH and truly hope it prospers in the near future, like Saudi Arabia when oil was discovered.”

“I was visiting Dallas for a quick meeting and my trip had been kind of disaster (flat tire, plane delay) and I really needed a print out of my parking pass. This library was close to the airport so I stopped by after exchanging my broken rental car. Everyone was friendly and helpful, they got me right on a computer and I was on my way in ten minutes. The place looked nice and well maintained. It wasn't huge but it was a nice neighborhood size branch. As a side note they may want to work on their branding because when I asked the guys at Alamo rent a car about local libraries nobody had heard of the place and it's only a mile away.”
