My 2 year old son is currently being treated at this facility. I just came here to say that our nurse, Tamrah, is absolutely wonderful! She is the sweetest person I’ve ever met and has made this experience so smooth. She is the type of nurse that all nurses should strive to be like!

While my wife did not ultimately receive treatment here (ins would only approve traditional radiation...), our experience with Texas Center for Proton Therapy was amazing. The first time I called to ask whether they treated desmoid tumors, I ended up on the phone with the director (Gary Barlow) of the clinic and we discussed my wife's situation for 45 minutes. Mr. Barlow gave me his work cell and told me to call whenever I needed something while we figured out the best way to get my wife's medical records to them for review. Mr. Barlow returned every call, text, and email as well as reached out to us just to check in. He was so gracious and caring for which I'm so appreciative. He is truly a man dedicated to the patients of his clinic and is passionate about helping everyone he can.

We did a video consult (Covid) with Dr. Mangona who spent an amazing amount of time with us explaining how their Proton Therapy as well as traditional radiation and electron therapy treat/attack desmoid tumors. His approach was so thorough and easy to follow that not only were the majority of our questions answered in his explanation but we also learned so much more about treatment. Dr. Mangona spent all this time with us knowing full well beforehand that ins would not cover their proton therapy (due to location of tumor). I'm skeptical by nature so when a physician spends as much time as Dr. Mangona did knowing that treatment would be with another center, you have definitely won me over. This place is NOT just trying to drum up business. They are absolutely legit and will shoot straight with you, whether their treatment is the way to go or not. While I wished we could have proceeded with proton therapy, Dr. Mangona was very reassuring that traditional radiation in my wife's specific case, would have very similar risks/rewards as their proton therapy and went so far as to reassure us that the radiologist we met with at UTSW is top notch and that he would have no reservation sending his own wife to him for treatment.

The last few weeks have been very stressful but having consulted with Dr. Mangona and hearing his explanation of everything has given us new hope that we have a viable treatment option even if it's not with the proton center. I have told all of my friends and family about our amazing experience with Mr. Barlow and Dr. Mangona and I highly recommend anyone contemplating radiation to reach out to this center to see which treatment option is best. As explained, proton therapy is an amazing technology that reduces the unwanted exposure of radiation to surrounding healthy tissue/organs. Again, I wish we qualified to get treated here as I know we would be in amazing hands.

My week long experience with Texas Center for Proton Therapy was nothing less than excellent. From Intake, Insurance, Reception, Nursing, Radiation Therapy & consultations with Dr. Mangona...The entire staff treated us with the utmost respect, courtesy & professionalism. Despite the circumstances for my being there, it was a very pleasant experience. One for which I will always remain grateful.

Harold (3) was treated for a brain tumor. Quick simulation and treatment schedule. The facility wasn’t always on time - we were typically the first on the schedule - but it was typically due to the physicists making adjustments to ensure accuracy of the treatment area. When dealing with millimeters inside of a child’s head, we appreciated this care greatly. Mike was awesome!
