“In a word: family. Honestly, I grew up in this church, went off to college, and then returned and can't believe the amount these people have invested into my life. Pastors Mark and Henry have put so much into my life already and they only continue to meet me with advice as my life develops. Great church to call home.”

“Founded in 1899, the Macedonia Baptist Church, is need of some tender loving care. The members want to rebuild but funds are tight. It would be a shame for such a lovely church to fade into history.”

“A small, beautiful old style wooden church. Definitely out in the country, but a pleasant drive over a well-kept gravel road. If you like pretty pastures and farm scenery, you will enjoy the drive. A cemetery stands next to the church. If you visit between mid-March through April, you will see an abundance of wild flowers just north on County Road 405. Well worth the drive.”

“St. Paul’s Baptist Church, sits on a beautiful green lot, less than ½ a mile south of Tx-105 on County Road 415, in Navasota, Texas. It’s a tiny white clapboard planked church with a small steeple. These small community churches are treasures and the way that they are cared for, shows the commitment of its members. I can’t find much on-line about this lovely church. If you know more, please drop me an e-mail and I will add your information to this post.”

“This beautiful church dates back to the late 1800’s. The original sanctuary was used for over fifty years. The building, as seen now, was constructed using materials taken from the original church and pieces from the old church are still in use, including the communion table and lectern. (Ref. Texas Historical Commission) The church sits on a peaceful, heavily wooded lot. The trees nearly hide this beautiful sanctuary clad in both wood and stone. Atop the roof sits a tall white steeple. It’s the perfect place for worship.”

“Beautiful church!! I was there for a quilt show and was dazzled by the magnificent, yet small and warm church! I have never been there for a service and probably will not, but it is someplace I would go for peace, solace and quiet time to pray and connect with God!!”

“Beautiful white-clad church with a tall gray steeple and a cross on top. If you visit mid-March through April, you will see stunning wild flowers. Even if you don’t go during wild flower season, the surrounding country side is pretty farmland.”

“This church had went through a "down" time, but is now bouncing back soo good. Lots of new members we didn't recognise when we visited. Lots of old "family" that we hadn't seen in years still there though. Love this church & church family!”

“Surrounded by peaceful green pasture and verdant trees, Union Grove Baptist Church, is an ideal setting for a sanctuary. If you are ever in the area between mid-March and mid-April, you will see a kaleidoscope of wild flowers all along FM-362. This historic church was organized in the mid 1800’s and is still active today.”

“Go out to farm and ranch land, on FM-362, off the main highway, and down a gravel and dirt road, more than half a mile, and you will find Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. According to the Grimes County Historical Society, this church was built by the black residents of the now defunct town of Retreat, Texas., in the late 1800’s. Pleasant Hill Baptist Church is a beautifully built structure with two towers, white clapboard planks, and stain glass windows. The church and the house right beside the church, both need some tender loving care. It would be a shame to let this old sanctuary go into even move disrepair.”

“This is an amazing church! My husband and I love it! We have learned so much and continue to learn more every church service! The people are like family and we all speak the same thing. KJV Bible only. It is the only one with POWER! I have never seen or been to another church like this one! The Pastor knows Bible and preaches the revealed word. He never uses theory - only BIBLE!”
