My favorite is Carla, I just love her! She has helped me a lot in my life. Great resource of information.
Carla, Monica, Gina, and the entire staff provided me with desperately needed support more than a year ago.
They helped me get disability compensation for PTSD, and much more importantly got me into a group for Vietnam Combat Veterans that meets every two weeks.
They possibly saved and definitely changed my life.
This is part of the VA system, but not part of the medical branch that can sometimes make life so miserable for combat veterans. The Vet Center is a strong advocacy group that helps with recovery and also goes up against the VA bureaucracy on our behalf.
If you need help and the VA has not treated you fairly or have not provided the help you need and have earned, call these folks immediately!
I have gotten amazing help for my PTSD at this Vet Center. It is NOT the VA (Thank goodness!) if you are a combat warrior, or survivor of military sexual trauma, they have special therapist just for us! If you are sick of the VA and their endless pills and bureaucracy, then try a Vet Center. Saved my life when the VA just wanted to give me pills.
This is actually the Vet Center. It is part of the VA, but this center is for counseling services such as PTSD, Combat Stress, Military Sexual Trauma, etc. This is NOT the VA Benefits office nor is it the VA Hospital.
