Dr Arash Asadi performed my Moh's surgery in a very complicated and large area. He took the time to explain the procedure and was there for nearly 3 months afterwards until I was completed healed. He was very accessible, and took care of all my needs - and then some. He explained things appropriately.
For those who dont know, Mohs procedure involves removing known diseased tissue areas, and then the surgeon checks a margin beyond the known area. The surgeon then looks at it under a microscope, and if the margins are clear, you are done. If the margins are positive, the surgeon will come back in 30 mins -1 hr later and remove a further area based on their observations of the diseased tissue.
It is impossible for the surgeon to be able to anticipate how much will need to be removed before starting, making it difficult to explain what the recovery will be like. It is performed under local anesthetic in an office.
My recovery, again large and complicated area, took 82 days before my wound was completely healed - but Dr Asadi was there from day 1 through healing and available to answer any questions I had. Incredibly accomodating, and if, God forbid, I or my family ever needed Mohs again, I wouldnt hesitate to see him again. For those of you, like me, who dread going to the med center, he has a convenient location on Thursdays in Katy, right off of I-10 and 99 frontage rd.
Dr. Asadi is very professional and thorough. This is our second time in to see him. If there is any way around it, I do not go to the Medical Center area for any doctor, however, for this doctor, I make an exception. He takes pride in his work and you can barely see where the cancer was removed within a year of having the surgery. He also considers the best way to stitch so it is less likely to cause issues. His nursing staff is also great. I do wish the insurance would be better verified prior to the visit though. We had met our out of pocket max and even though I had asked them to verify that fact prior to the appointment, they tried to charge me a copay when I arrived. The office lady came into the exam room and said "I hear you have a a problem with the copay"....um, no problem here. Please call the insurance company again and ask about the out of pocket max vs. the copay. After a small discussion regarding Obama insurance (which I don't have) saying she would submit it but I'd have to pay it in the end if I was wrong. I was a bit insulted because she was acting like I was trying to stiff them for the copay. It is a small thing compared to how well the rest of the staff has treated us, but I thought it worth mentioning in case you have met your OOP max already.
Had MOH's procedure done with Dr. Asadi and was really impressed by him and his staff. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant and professional and he has a wonderful personality and manner. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of his services.
