  Not your mother's Mason Jar. Like many others, I've been dining at Mason Jar since the 1970s, and this store looks completely different from the original. There are some nods to the original, and we had to get the artichoke. The food was good. The menus are printed on thin paper, but I suppose because they're still working things out. Our service was good, too, but it looks like they might be understaffed because they went to a wait with several empty tables. I do have the question the position of the pictures at the hostess stand, though!

  Recently opened and we just missed the lunch menu. Prices are a little high but the portion size makes up for it. We tried the smothered fries and onion rings. They we're good but could have been better if the cheese was melted. The Chicken Fried Steak only had one air pocket otherwise it was all steak under the batter. The Hawaiian Chicken had good flavor but was over grilled. The spinach and grilled zucchini side dishes were wonderful! They have a small grass area with out door patio for kids to play and run around a little. they said no 4-legged kids so we had to leave our dogs at home.

  I think it was a soft opening. Lunch only. Food was decent. Not how I remembered the original, bit then what is. We will go back. Husband really liked the chicken fried steak sandwich. I had the chicken flat bread with spinach and olives. It was ok

  The Mason Jar that was located on the Katy Fwy (I-10) is back and located at Grand Parkway & Kingsland. The theme is Home Style Cooking but the atmosphere has the new open style feel compared to the original restaurant. Fairly cold inside so bring a jacket and the waitress we had could use some more training. You don't grab the menu from your customers hand and you don't reach across the patrons. I will go back don't it's got a ways to go to be my favorite place. Still I give you a weak 4

  We went on soft opening and menu was very limited but food and service were very good! The restaurant building is amazingly beautiful. I will gladly come back with full menu to give this restaurant 5 stars!
