  Disfellowshipping unrepentent wrongdoers is scriptural, 1 Cor. 5:11. While many believe that disassociation with the wrongdoer is unloving, in actuality that action is loving - toward both the congregation members who are striving to remain spiritually clean and following Jesus' steps closely, and toward the wrongdoer who hopefully will come to his or her senses and turn around and repent of practicing what Almighty God Jehovah detests. Second, for those who believe that Jehovah's Witnesses belong to a cult, this is simply not true. Definitions of "cult" are "a particular system of religious worship, especially with reference to its rites and ceremonies"; "an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing"; "a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader." None of these definitions describe Jehovah's Witnesses. We are your neighbors, workmates, relatives, and friends. We do not segregate ourselves and live in a compound. Nor do we follow a charismatic leader. As head of the Christian congregation, our leader is Jesus Christ. Finally, our congregations do not protect pedophiles as some suggest. If anyone commits such a crime, the police and authorities are notified if knowledge of such a crime arises. Fact is, this is the only religion that teaches directly from the Bible. I invite you to find out for yourself. Don't simply believe what others tell you. If you haven't stepped into a Kingdom Hall yourself, then you have no first hand knowledge to base your belief on.
