Premire High School of Dayton had an opportunity to do a community service project with Biologist Laurie Lomas Gonzales. This is our second time working with her cleaning up the trails and learning about the plants and animals local to our area. For any organization interested in preserving nature this is an amazing opportunity, and for those just was thing to visit you won't be disappointed. Check out the parks website, print out the trailmap, and get outdoors. Remember, what you pack in you pack out.
To find this trailhead, go to the end of Cypress Street, get on the levee, and go south on the levee about 30 yards. The markers to enter will be on the west side of the levee at the right of way. Follow the orange markers and stay on the south side of the pipeline right-of-way. Follow the orange marks in the trees along the tree line until you get to the bayou with the bridge. If you go right at any point and see deer stands or picnic benches, you are now on private property and trespassing. As long and you follow the orange marks, you are on the trail. Tree Frog Trail ends after about 1/4 mile and meets up with the Boggy Boots Loop, another trail marked by orange marks in the trees. There are 5 miles of trails back in there, enjoy! Oh, and there are a lot of scenic areas too!
