  It's been about 15 years since I have been back to this country club. My family owned a home here in April Sound and this was the weekend getaway. We loved playing golf here and this is the golf course I won my golf clubs on, when I beat my stepfather on his own course. I have included many pictures so you can see the beauty of this place . Although I didn't get a kitchen pass. This place is spic and span. Employees were having a great time. My bartender was a pleasure and I enjoyed picking on him. This was a back to school bash. Everyone had a blast ! Kenny Cooper Band was great. People were singing, dancing, and playing. It's a must if you need a wedding venue! Beautiful grounds and employees. It's on my list of must see if you are in April Sound. Thank you for a great evening. Enjoyed it.

  Upon entering the April Sound community, I am impressed by the intensity of the front gate guards. I am treated with utmost respect and at the same time feel that they would tase me if I breach the gate. There is a vehicle positioned to intercept & pursue the lower classes of society if they somehow infiltrate this pristine neighborhood.
  
  The streets are narrow, not quite wide enough for 2 trucks to drive side-by-side. As I drive over the rolling hills towards my rental destination, I admire the eccentric street signs, indicating that I am indeed in a different world.
  
  In the morning my party and I drive the short distance to the Country Club for a pool adventure. I park 10 feet away from the entrance. Fantastic.
  
  The time is 10AM on a Wednesday. A quick scan of the pool shows only a few geriatrics doing water aerobics. I also see the widest, best toddler & baby pool I've ever seen. The water is 1.5 feet all around, it's wide enough for 30 toddlers to be in there at the same time, and also just deep enough for Big Papa to get his belly button wet, but not quite deep enough for him to lay out to catch a frisbee (as he soon discovered). The water is so perfectly manufactured that is has that "shoe factory" smell which accompanies new shoes in the box. The PH levels are so perfect it's almost drinkable.
  
  My 2 kids had a great time. My 20-something friends had a great time. In the adult pool there sit 2 contraptions my middle-class eyes have never seen in a pool: A quasi-zipline and a 15 foot rock-climbing wall. Great fun for ages 6 - 66.
  
  In total there are 4 pools, plenty of room to relax and spread out without swimming into other guests' urine. The lifeguards prove helpful and lax, and even helped me acquire towels for my party of 8.
  
  The abundance of shaded canopies and umbrellas protected my white skin from getting burned by that well-meaning ball of fire & gas that lives nearby.
  
  Upon exiting the April Sound Country Club, I thank my gracious host who listed his property on Airbnb and allowed my friends and I to experience what it's like to live here.
  
  I leave the fantasy realm of well-kept pools, rolling hills and guarded gates, and return back to whence I came, to the land far beyond, whose territory is marked by the Great Statue of the North. I return with a longing in my heart, a longing to hear the Sound of April once again...to sit in the water that smells like new shoes...to cloak myself in sweet-smelling commercially washed towels.
  
  Alas I shall not return, not in this life. As I reflect on my time, I realize that the same fiery ball of gas shines down on the land of enchantment as well as my own land. And in this, as long as I remain on this temporary planet, I shall always possess the faintest of echos of April Sound.
