Cooper's Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que

Coopers is my favorite restaurant, has been since around 1990 down in Llano, TX. I still prefer Llano the best (simply old style) but my 2nd best is at the Stockyards in Ft Worth. I live in Dallas Nd eat at Cooper's around ten times a year. It's "so" worth the drive and I bring plenty home on purpose. I can never decide what I like best but it's a toss up between the beef ribs and brisket with the steak a close 3rd. Just can't get enough!

Okay if this is your first experience it can be a bit overwhelming. You pick your meat as you walk down the line. Me is sold by the pound. With exception of a pulled pork sandwich for $10. Portions of side dishes are next on the line, they look smaller than they actually are.
Macaroni and cheese, potato salad, pasta salad,green beans, and a couple of dessert options. For my taste the side dishes seemed a bit bland but don't worry at all there's plenty of toppings you can add to make it better.

Once you pay and check out, there's all kinds of extras waiting for you on the other side. Free bread so you can make a sandwich, including parquet butter a real Texas experience.

I've been to quite a few BBQ places around the country and this one is by far my absolute favorite! They have all the BBQ favorites with one selection that stands above all others, BEEF RIB! I have yet to find another place that serves beef ribs. If you've never had it, you NEED to try it! Coopers is exactly how every other smoke house should be. You can smell the meats from the parking lot. When you walk in you get to look at the menu and select from a wide assortment of meat. You even get to pick the actual cut of meat as it is right there in front of you. You then take your meat to the next counter to chose from a nice selection of sides and desserts. At the end of the line you grab a cup and pay for your meal. They have a large area to sit indoor and out so it won't be hard to find a seat. They have a drink bar with fountain sodas, sweet tea and pots full of free baked beans! Each time I've been here the whole place was clean and very hygienic. If you're ever in the area you absolutely need to try this place out. The staff are all friendly and you'll love your experience!
