Executive summary: If you're fortunate enough to live in an area served by this community farm's delivery network you won't be disappointed with your order or the service.
I learned about Farmshare Austin when I was helping a neighbor without internet access find food pantry locations. Thanks to a partnership with MetroAccess this community farm is able to make deliveries to my neighborhood on a weekly basis. This is a great help during our "stay at home, maybe?" isolation: between my pantry, my freezer, and a weekly produce delivery I can limit my shopping to once a month. I was a little vague on the quantities I was buying, but having received my first order I'll be able to tweak my one to better suit the houshold.
I shopped on Friday morning from a good selection of seasonal, locally-grown produce. Everything has been washed to remove sandy loam (which is great for cropping but not so great for dental work!) so prep will be easy. Greens are fresh and crisp, lettuces look great, and I can't wait to make a quick little sauce with those plump tomatoes. Prices were on par with or lower than prices at HEB, and delivery was free!
I only bought produce, but Farmshare Austin also offers a (very) limited selection of pantry staples and fresh meat. If they'd add milk, OJ and toilet paper I might not need to leave the house ever :D
Organics!!!
It's a brilliant concept. Taylor is very talented
