Smeltertown Cemetery

Address: 28 San Marcos Dr, El Paso, TX 79922, USA

Cemetery

“I believe I have an ancestor buried here based on old records, so I went here hoping there would be a headstone. Most gravesites are little more than rock piles now with no marker to indicate who is buried there. I guesstimate around 30 years or so ago, some group began putting up new wooden crosses on many gravesites, but they are generic & blank. Around the 1940's, it appears more families began using headstones and concrete that identified their loved ones and there are even graves from as recent as 2000's that are pretty modern. In general, however, the longer it has been since your loved one passed away, the more unlikely you will be able to locate their gravesite unless someone can find records of the plots - even then it would still be difficult as the oldest gravesites have long ago turned into nothing but a few rocks through time or vandalism. Still, it is amazing how much I felt a rush of history just standing atop that hill. I could visualize the landscape back then even as I-10 and construction vehicles rolled on around me.”

“This company was hired by my contractor and West Texas dropped off the rock after my contractor had previously sent a picture of his credit card for a different transaction. When they dropped off the rock it was assumed that they charged the card, as he did not have a credit/charge account with West Texas. Now, I am the homeowner and after a very short amount of time from my perspective, West Texas sent a letter from their lawyer in regards to placing a lein on the homeowners property. According to my contractor, West Texas did not try diligently to collect on the invoice and proceeded prematurely to send out this letter which was the first communication I had received from West Texas. Given this situation, I immediatley called West Texas, and throughout this process they were extremely professional and courteous with me. Perhaps, the my contractor had not provided me with the most appropriate information. While I understand the legal standpoint West Texas has take, I do wish they would have communicated such issues with me prior to sending out this type of letter as I am very much willing to assist. I will say in my dealings, the folks at West Texas were VERY nice, and this was just an unfortunate situation I was put in from the contractor. The only reason I am not listing this contractor is that this is not their business page, and do not think this is the appropriate channel to discuss another business. Thank you West Texas for your professionalism, and from my perspective, the folks I have spoken with genuinely care for their customers.”

“Since my initial review, the owner of the store sent a service man to repair my fountain. The new patch applied blends in with the rest of the fountain very well and it looks much better now. * * * I have a fountain installed by this company in 2014. I picked the design from their display lot. When it was delivered to install, several parts of it had broken pieces and the installer had to patch up with white plaster where the original fountain was natural stone color (gray). I was told by the owner that the white plaster will bend in with the rest as the fountain ages, but it never did after two years. In fact, the white plasters stood out even more as years go by. Be aware if the fountain they deliver to install has holes and broken pieces. Be advised to refuse to have any patches because the patches will never blend in and they look like sore thumb whenever I look at the fountain.”
