“I saw this place on Texas Bucket list and was driving from San Antonio to Austin, so had to stop in because Shane has never let me down. Was a nice surprise, there was a good country band playing and the atmosphere was awesome! Whether you want to sit inside, outside, or open air covered, this place is for you. Can tell it’s a local place and hidden gem. The burger was very good, but they are not playin around with that chicken sandwich. I also loved the onion rings! Caught a glimpse of some fried mushrooms that had my mouth watering. My server Mari was absolutely amazing also. As they say, well worth a stop on the Texas bucket list! Come out and support your local businesses and avoid chains! I highly recommend this place.”

“Rarely do I find a food place where you can get somewhat safe fries (dedicated fryer). They do not guarantee gluten free because of cross contact risk; however, just about everything is inherently gluten free except for the regular buns I believe. Order your burger protein style for gluten allergy. I always get the meal because their fries are so good. In my opinion gluten free buns are not very good and they are super dry and overly filling - I much prefer protein style/ lettuce wrap and these burgers on lettuce wrap are some of the best! The lettuce is super fresh and crunchy.”

“Herbert’s is one of my favorite places to go for Tex-Mex in Central Texas. I’ve been coming here since 1980 and it’s definitely comfort food that I crave. However I have noticed from being in the restaurant industry myself that people's attitudes are based on your own. My experience was that these ladies were very friendly even after missing part of our order and having to drive back, I was kind in my manners with them and they gave me the same respect. People who are rude to food service workers are bound to get what they give. These ladies were awesome and even gave me extra biscuits for my trouble definitely the only churches we will go to. “I was walking around the mall looking for a place to eat and this place was packed. Checked out the vege buffet but decided i wanted meat. got a couple of dishes and the stewed port was delish. the water spinach not so much, lacked punch and flavor. Next time i will try out the vege buffet or maybe the goat hot pot. highly recommended. Second trip: This time I had the Mi Quang. Soup was decent, lots of toppings but the noodle was not the right noodles. Looks like they subsituted wonton noodles instead of the usual yellow flat noodles”
