  Interesting place to visit, historical, wonderful and informative volunteers. Good way to learn how grains were milled. Did not see any public facilities. Still a nice place to visit and buy flour.

  Beautiful restoration of a historic mill that is open to the public. You can watch grain being ground and the docents do a good job of explaining the mechanisms.

  Great historical stop. Working mill with friendly volunteers who provide great insight into colonial milling techniques.

  I got here at the end of the day so all demonstrations were done but the mill itself was very interesting. Well done displays explained its construction, renovation and operation. Beautiful setting with picnic tables. Small town but it has several antique shops and a general store so you could easily spend half a day here. Most things close at 5 though.

The Burwell-Morgan Mill - Shenandoah at War

This gristmill was built by General Daniel Morgan and Colonel Nathaniel Burwell and it was completed in 1785. It was in continuous operation until 1943 and today it houses an Art Gallery along with historic interpretation of the mill's role in the community.

Burwell-Morgan Mill - Virginia Is For Lovers

A National Register Historical Landmark and one of the oldest, most original operational grist mills in the country located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. In the early 1780s, Gen. Daniel Morgan, a true Revolutionary War hero, joined efforts with Col.Nathaniel Burwell of Carter Hall to build this water powered mill in an area that would become the quaint village of Millwood.
