Difficult Run Stream Valley Trail, Georgetown Pike

Great spot to enter the county trail system and go to Great Falls. Parallels a stream into GFNPS and goes to the Potomac.

This trail is a diamond in the rough. Parking is limited but free and confortable. There are two trails and both contain beatiful sceneries or river flow, nature and waterfalls. One trail is a cross county and does not loop back to parking lot. The other trail that the entrace is located of the far left side of the parking lot, is the trail that loops back to parking lot. Please watch out and read all signs, for neither trail is clearly distinguished.

A fun hike through Northern Virginia. It's also a way to hike into Great Falls Park for free if you go far enough.

Great hiking along the Difficult Run trail. The very picturesque and tranquil trail follows a robustly flowing stream with a crossing nicely facilitated by a line of large stones. The trail can get very muddy in places, so be prepared if you're heading out after a rainstorm. Lately just about any given day can be described as after a rainstorm, so I would suggest being prepared for mud no matter what. However, as long as you're willing to do some puddle jumping, you will be rewarded with a tranquil hike and ultimately a very nice view of the Potomac River.

Nice set of trails, mostly wide-open dirt. Some offshoots down to the water by climbing around some rocks. Dog friendly!
