The River Farm Cooperative School is a dynamic K-6th grade School that specializes in individualized learning and helping to foster a relationship to the environment. My child is in the elementary school and has a teacher who supports her growth both academically and socially. We love RFC and how every morning I can trust my daughter is learning to balance her mind body connect through yoga and mindfulness. We are forever grateful.
Our child is absolutely thriving in this small but wonderful school. The co-op aspect keeps the tuition well below any other private option, and while there is a time commitment for each parent, we have three great teachers and a director to manager the day-to-day functioning of the school. Small and mixed age classes provide great opportunity for individualized attention. At least an hour outdoors every day and no homework until middle school... Wish I had been able to attend a school like this when I was a kid!
This school has been amazing for our daughter. We found a great community at RFC. Our move from overseas was not easy especially being new to the area. The thing that we love the most about RFC is the amount of time spent outside playing and learning. Highly recommend!
This is our Second full year at the River Farm Cooperative School. As a parent The River Farm School makes you feel like a member of the community and the small size allows for transparency and communication to happen frequently. From my daughters perspective , River Farm is an extension of home, a place where she can learn safely with peers and a teacher that cultivates her love of knowledge. River farm is a rare gem when it comes to schools in the DC area, if you are reading this you have probably already experienced the insanity that is the public school system. The small classroom sizes allow for individualized attention and ability to move through material in a way that just makes more sense. An hour at RFC is easily equal to a whole day at a normal school. My child comes home from school happy, and motivated, she sets her own alarms in the morning and is practically dragging me to the car to make sure we are on time for school. This school is worth the time as a parent you will apply to helping make the school possible and affordable. Hope to see you at an open house !
