(August 26, 2018, 3:23 pm)I purchased a 1.5-hour horse trail for my girls and all I could say, is that this was one of the best things I have ever done around the Virginia area with my family. From the start of the arrival the staff was very friendly and professional. The staff instructed us very carefully on how to mount and un-mount the horses. Courtney was my girl’s tour guide and she was so excellent, she guide them thru the trails and water path and also provided excellent videos and pictures at no charge. I would recommend this to all who want to do something relaxing with the family over the weekend.

(August 12, 2018, 12:03 am)My daughters and niece went on a trail ride with Presley as a guide, she was awesome! The horses they rode were Arrow, Chester and Scooby. They were also awesome! The staff are very friendly and easy to deal with, and we highly recommend this stable.

(August 4, 2018, 1:19 pm)Just got back from Tamarack Stables. It was so enjoyable.
The second I got in, they greeted my family and I. We got our helmets and got ready to get on a horse. I got the second biggest horse, "Scooby," who was great. Tim, the owner, said "Scooby is one of the nicer ones, but he needs a lot more slack."
We got on the trail and it was so much fun. The scenery was great, a little muddy but it was still wonderful. My favorite was when we reached a part where there were no trees in an area to the sunlight was beaming in that place. There were two guides one in the front and one in the back. They assisted us when needed.
Disclosure: Once you are on the horse and you want the horses to move you say "walk on" and sometimes you need to "clap" the inside of your feet on the horses side. The leaders will say "kick the horse and move on," but you don't kick the horse like a soccer ball. You are just clapping your inside of your feet with the horses side and yelling "move on." You do not hurt the horse when you clap the insides of your feet with the horses side. its just a nudge to get them to know you want to move forward. -

(April 28, 2018, 8:46 am)We hadn't been on a trail ride in years, yet we felt completely comfortable on our trail ride. Our horses were gentle but not dull; the trail was mostly in the shade of the woods and fun with some variety of ups and downs to negotiate and a creek for the horses to splash in. Our guides were safety conscious and made sure we knew the basics about handling our horses. It was a lot of fun, and I readily recommend Tamarack Stables.
