Recommend all ages visit this place, especially our current elected officials so they know what the constitution says, and what they are supposed to defend for the American people, or if they can't just vacate their office.
Cafe on premises is a small food court, thus food choices may change. So, check their web portal for details. -

(December 24, 2018, 7:55 pm)Incredible! Well worth the tour & visiting the memorial site, museum, & gift shop. They could have done a better job coordinating last timed tickets tho' - we arrived for 3:35p tour, they rushed through each section, pushed us to hustle to grave tomb if we wanted to see it, then we had to rush through museum & gift shop. If last tour is after 3:30p keep venue open later or have last ticketed tour earlier - get their early if you want a leisurely time there - very educational!

(December 20, 2018, 7:35 am)We really enjoyed the Behind the Scenes National Treasure tour. It was a lot of fun to go beneath the great house and hear stories you wouldn't otherwise hear on the house tour. Our guide was funny, informative and full of historical knowledge. This tour is worth the extra money spent in addition to the Mt. Vernon fee.

(November 24, 2018, 12:28 pm)Mount Vernon is a lesser publicized historic site in the greater Washington, D.C. area. It isn’t run by the National Park Service. However, it is magnificent and beautifully kept. It’s well worth the small price for admission, currently $20 adults, $12 age 6-11, $19 62+, kids 5 and under are free.
It’s a large property but a pleasant walk to complete the mostly self guided tour. The mansion is guided and depending on how crowded it is they might assign you a specific time to attend the mansion tour. You can show up anytime after your assigned time, you don’t have to show up exactly at that time.
Mount Vernon is kept up like a working farm. It changes throughout the year, along with the seasons. As do the decorations around the property. I’ve been during the Summer and at Thanksgiving and both times had unique aspects to them.
There are a few short movies that provide some history about Mount Vernon, George Washington, and related topics. They are very good as well. Overall, this is a great site to see and you won’t be disappointed. -

(November 21, 2018, 7:44 pm)Very informative tour. I've been twice, and even when it poured the second time, the tour was still really great and it was an overall good experience. However the first time I was able to see all the grounds and it was fantastic. There is so much to do and explore. I highly recommend you go.
