Black Dog Farm Inn At Mt Welby

This place is amazing. Location is central to many Virginia wineries including RDV and Linden. Owners, Kristen and Phil, are amazing and very accommodating. Breakfast was 5 star. Welby room is very nice. I will definitely be back!

What a delightful weekend! The grounds are in a rural yet accessible area-- peaceful just arriving. Then Nina and Niko, two big black labs, bounded down to greet us with wagging tails which changed to wagging bodies once we started petting them. And the breakfasts and hospitality were above and beyond--- Kristen had sent an email asking about dietary restrictions, and as a powerlifter, I eat a lot but very specific foods. I was afraid I had scared her away. But no, she responded enthusiastically, interested in meeting me and hearing about powerlifting. The breakfast was so good- full of protein and veggies and everything I needed while also meeting my husband's likes and needs of yougurt and granola and eggs and fruits. Also, I had mentioned my husband loves cannolis and it was his birthday on Sunday. I asked for cannolis (which I would pay extra for) from a bakery if they had one they worked with, but if she couldn't find any no big deal, we'd just pick some up on the way home. Come Sunday morning, she explained she had called all the bakeries and couldn't find any cannolis, but she looked up a recipe and MADE SOME BY HAND and hoped they were ok. (THEY WERE GREAT!!). I enjoyed chatting with Kristen and Phil in the morning and for the first time in weeks was able to sleep well, letting go of work stress. I also think the wine and chocolates in the room are a delightful touch (and a fresh flower, too!). Oh, and the mini bar with sodas, juices, and snacks, too! Enjoy the lovely surrounding and let the hosts (human and canine) delight you with their hospitality.
