Dr Smith has been my GI doctor for about 20 yrs.. I think very very highly of him and Dr. Trible... I am a nurse and I refer all my patients to this office.. I don't understand how someone can say not to come to office bc I have ALWAYS had great service by staff and physicians and my patients have had nothing but good things to say about the office!!!!
Dr. Smith has been my doctor for many years and is excellent. If I could give him 10 stars I would.
Renick Smith is excellent: professional, up-to-date in his knowledge, thorough, straightforward, and careful. Highly recommended. Both my husband and I have been his patients for many years. I had a near-death out-of-town stomach operation several years ago, and his attention to my gastro-intestinal health has been impeccable.
I was referred to Dr. Renick Smith and his team by my Primary care Dr Ferguson about 16 months ago. At that time I had unexplained gut wrenching episodes of pain for months in my pelvis and severe back problems- a stiff painful back. I had wrong diagnoses from other physicians who were certain it was endometriosis- it was not and recommending surgery. I was going through expensive treatments of treatment for back pain as well. Because of how unwell I was I has lost a drastic amount of weight -weighing at 80lbs. It was a huge strain on me physically and emotionally.
At my very first consult Dr. Renick was very brief, he is not a hold your hand doctor but more of an effectively try to identify the problem and save the patient numerous visits. Instead of prescribing medication right away he advised that we take an invasive look an endoscopy and colonoscopy and his office set up my procedure quickly and efficiently -
by the weeks' end. Sure enough I had a small overgrowth of a bacteria that usually causes no severe symptoms irritating a small part of the lining of my small intestine. In my case perhaps picked up from a dirty glass in a restaurant, he said or just about anywhere. Such an easy diagnosis had taken months to get to. I believe a less experienced doctor would have missed it. A round of antibiotics and the pelvic pain disappeared along with the back pain.
Rappahanock Gastoentology is great, I could call them at anytime after my procedure which if you have had is very hard on the body. Dr. Renick and his team followed up with me in the weeks and months that followed until I started to gain my weight back and was pain free. A great doctor and a great team.
