Previously a lower middle class Caucasian area, the neighborhood around Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church has slipped a step or two on the economic ladder while the population has radically changed. SJCC is now 65%+ Spanish speaking, filled with a vibrant but not as economically stable new community. There are many social and cultural events here and the office staff is highly supportive of the new population that helps keep the doors open. If the population settles and stabilizes, the church may survive. If it does not, this facility should be gone within fifteen years.
