I was a patient of Dr. Holden from 2006 till my 18th birthday. During my first visit, I had been failing gym because my ankles and feet crippling me with pain. The ortho I had seen prior to her, told my mother and I that there was just a small crack in my ankle and it would heal over time. Constantly rolling my ankles with just simple activity, led me to seeing the previous ortho for over two years with the physcian repeating the same thing every time and accusing me of making up the pain I was feeling.

Dr. Holden was always kind and thorough in her examinations, explaining everything accurately and precisely. She also believed me when I said I was in pain, without writing me off as an attention seeker compared to the ortho I had seen previously.

Within the first 5 mins of looking at my xrays at my initial appt, she had seen that I had a rare condition called tarsal coalition. She also noted that my right ankle was literally not attached to my leg because it was so severely broken. Years of weight compensation to relieve some pain on my right foot, led to completely stretched out ligaments in my left foot/ankle.

The correction for my condition was surgical. Though it took many years to completely correct my foot issues surgically, Dr. Holden helped me regain some of my life instead of being pain from just standing any extended period of time.

Holden is to date, one of my biggest role models. She was always beyond kind and showed a level of empathy that she had towards me. She honestly strived for the highest in everything she did; whether it was technical skill or interpersonal communication. She also figured out that i had another rare (though its not believed to actually be rare, it is rarely diagnosed) condition known as eds years before anyone else in a field specific to genetic conditions figured it out.

I would recommend Dr. Holden to even complete strangers. The impact she made on my life will always be invaluable.
