Nicest plants I have ever seen for sale and very reasonable prices. Plants you will not find elsewhere easily. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lovely farm. These folks work hard and it shows. Thank you.
Knowledgeable, professional, and friendly!! If you’ve never made a trip out to their farm it’s a must-see the place is gorgeous!
I took Whole Living From the Ground Up - 1 last year.
I have taken several online herbal courses, webinars, etc. and this is the one class that actually pulled it all together. The hands on experience, Krista and Rob's knowledge and information, and the camaraderie that grows among students in the class made it a wonderful experience that I still talk about to people on a regular basis.
If you have any interest in learning herbs...and if you have the time and the money to commit to this class...do it! The class is a definite commitment, but it is well worth it. One of the best investments I have ever made. I am looking forward to year 2 starting soon.
Where else can you learn about everything from building good dirt to what to do with your harvest? No where. The Whole living classes are awesome hands on experiences that prepare you to create your own garden/mini- farm, or, at minimum, live a healthier "closer to the land" type of lifestyle. You will meet wonderful people and learn all kinds of things: vermicomposting, paper making, herbs/herbal products, fermenting (kefir, kombucha, and veggies), grain grinding, bread making, plant identification, growing and harvesting, and candle making- to name just a few!! Added bonus: shopping after class! You can purchase (seasonally) plants, flowers, herbs, and trees at the market in addition to other things- like pasture raised eggs, tinctures, hay, Forrest Green Farm spice mixes and other farm created products (year round). If you don't have time for a class it is still worth a trip to the market. Be sure to check out the Memorial Day event- that is a great way to get a sampling of what its all about! ...you won't be disappointed!!
My wife and I took the Mushroom class this past weekend. It was well worth the time and money. Rob and Krista are quite knowledgeable, easy to engage, good teachers, and most important very friendly. While you may be able to learn the nuts and bolts via youtube or other online resources, you will not get the depth of understanding and hands on experience this class provided. We were also able to sample their products made on the farm, all I can say is WOW, very delicious and tasty, nothing like you could ever make from store bought vegetables and herbs. Mercifully they postponed the class twice due to major weather events (snow and sleet, then about 4 inches of rain). I know of many vendors that would have simply cancelled the whole thing. It ended up happening on a beautiful balmy day, perfect conditions.
Edit: 4/21/2018 - Went to the farm tour today. Received a really in-depth session from Rob on how they manage the animals, pastures, etc. and how it all works together. Very impressed, not only with the knowledge, but with how much work Rob & Krista have put into the farm and their obvious passion for the farm life.
Edit: 10/10/2018 - Our mushroom logs are sprouting and producing like crazy! Fantastic to freshly harvest pure mushrooms, slice, sauté and add to pasture raised eggs from Forrest Green Farm :)
At Forrest Green Farm, they offer educational classes, over 400 varieties of herbs, vegetables and flowering plants, pasture raised chickens, beef, eggs, herbal teas, dips, seasonings, personal care products, naturally grown hay and registered Miniature Hereford cows.
