I applaud Johnstone Supply for NOT selling to the general public and non licensed contractors. As a wholesale supply house your commitment to sell only to properly licensed contractors protects the industry and the public on many levels. Public safety is but one reason.
The licensed contractor makes extensive investments in education, training, tools and equipment to provide proper quality service to the public, and a loyal customer base to their wholesalers. The wholesaler makes extensive investments in an operation to provide knowledge and access to manufactures and their goods. and a consistent supply line of trade specific materials to the licensed contractor for resale. To sell to the general public and unlicensed contractors undermines the system and puts all that at risk.
