Great place to bring the family and kids when you want to get away from the hustle of the Washington suburbs.
It should be noted that pets are not aloud either in or out of your vehicle. That makes good sense as this is a wildlife refuge, but we were not able to stop as we had our dog in the car with us.
Good place to go hiking. Trails are extremely easy to walk and extremely difficult to get lost on. Biggest down side is all the trash that washes up from the Potomac on certain parts of the trail along the water.
A beautiful and serene place to walk and enjoy nature. Plenty of resting spots along the way. Perfect picnic areas. Well maintained trails. Clean restroom facilities. Ample parking at entrance
Seasonal. By that what's meant is there are different natural attractions in the different seasons. Nature photographers prefer spring and fall. Any time the leaves are off the trees. Then much more can be seen. Of all seasons spring has the greatest species variety activity.
