“I like the school because they do not play around when it comes to education. Ms. Wyatt, my daughters teacher for 4th grade was superb. She is the best teacher my daughter has had thus far. This was our first year in prince William county. My child started off the year at a 2nd grade reading level coming from fairfax county. My child is now on her reading level and on the A & B honor roll. My child also passed all her SOL's. Ms. Wyatt set up a number of meetings with myself and other staff to come up with a plan for my childs success. I really appreciate this because no other teacher in our past went to this great extent. Now they received a four because some things are just annoying. When you need to speak with the principle, she is unavailable. When you expect to pick your child up at a certain time, majority of the time they are late, but get stuck in the face when you are late. But, not all of them act like that. I wish I knew the one sweet young ladies name at the front desk. The number one thing that plucked my nerves at the end of the school year was because I brought cupcakes in that were made from a ladies home business. They told me I couldn't bring the cupcakes in because it didn't have a list of the ingredients and the kids in the classroom have allergies to certain foods. So, they called the lady and asked her what her ingredients were and told her we still cant except them because you may have made the cupcakes after you made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Is she crazy? You cant guarantee that with any food products bought for one. Two she was arguing with us about an allergy that does not even exist in my childs classroom. Anyway I still got my way and no child had an allergic reaction to the cupcakes. I think when they have functions they should put what the allergies are in the classroom when having functions because I did find out that one of the kids had a dairy allergy and never eats cupcakes when handed out in the classroom. If I had known that ahead of time I would have went out of my way to get vegan cupcakes. I'm just saying this if you want to be so particular about what food goes into the classroom.”

“I attended this school way back in the 1970's. I loved it! Mrs. Gatewood was my favorite teacher. Mrs. Britt was just plain mean. They used to show movies on the big screen in the cafeteria during summer. There were so many activities at Ashurst. I have good memories of Quantico.”

“My children who attend Holy Family Academy told me that there was a RUDE man who used to clean the school in exchange for free tuition for his children. Needless to say, one of my children was yelled at by the man for attempting to use the bathroom when he was getting ready to close it (not closed yet) for cleaning. I planned to report the incident to the headmaster but decided not to and gave the man the benefit of the doubt. If in fact he's that rude, he will be exposed eventually. Sure enough, several weeks ago, my children told me that the man was fired by the headmaster for not doing the job that he was hired to do and for being rude to everyone. Kudos to the headmaster for standing up to the bully, which was my only concern about Holy Family Academy at the time. We've heard nothing but good reviews about Holy Family Academy. I believe the review submitted by Mr. Martinez is referring to the cleaning bully. I have good news for you, sir. The bully is gone. HE WAS FIRED FEW WEEKS AGO! ”

“I have 2 children that have attended Merit schoo of Prince William. One of them went pk4-2nd grade. Most of the staff is very loving and treat the children the same without bias or prejudice. My kids were always happy here and the school takes safety and academics seriously. Both my children excelled academically and have an impressive emotional intelligence. Just to give an example my 3 year old could identify 20 sight words before his 4th birthday. My 8 year old is advanced in math and reading. The campus is large but I do think they are outgrowing the space as more people look towards private entities for education, so I did take a star off for that. I wish it was on bigger campus complete with a library and possibly go to 8th grade. They do have a great collection of books in each class and visit the local libraries as well which is also nice. Also I wish the Spanish, science and social studies programs were expanded The principal, Mrs. George, is phenomenal and will work with you if there are any issues that arise and really values her families. We had a bully situation that was handled expeditiously Now that my oldest is no longer there it has been difficult to top. I have spoken to many parents from merit that have moved on and they echo my sentiments. We have all been spoiled by such incredible teachers and customer service.”

“My little one has been attending since she was 3months old. She loves it and they love her. Staff is very accommodating and proactive. I know my child will be enriched daily and well taken care of. Class sizes are small (so your child gets one on one care) and facility is clean. I highly recommend!”

“Gar-field High School held their 40th Golf Tournament and Reunion here. Was very impressed with the facility and employees. I don't play golf but from what I could see the course is beautiful. All the employees we encountered were very polite (I like that!) And hard working.”

“Mrs. Jones is building a music community from the ground up. We sent our two daughters to the piano studio for two years. We had the most amazing experience and the kids loved it so much. Mrs. Jones ability to tailor her teaching based on each student’s learning style is incredible. In my opinion, that could be the reason she has strong bond with her students. What makes the piano studio so special is that, apart from the lesson in the studio, students get plenty of opportunities to perform for an audience and gain stage experience. One of these opportunities is performing for senior citizens in nursing home where students learn performing art and responsibilities of serving their community. Some of her students seemed to be destined to be great performers. In that regard, Mrs. Jones is contributing to the society by giving us a gift of great performers.”
