American Civil War Museum- Historic Tredegar

Nice historical sites the actual information part of the museum was small but seeing the old iron factory was neat!

I have been waiting to visit this museum for years. Finally got to visit in spring of 2021. A very modernized approach to explain the war. They have a great collection of antiquities. The Robert E Lee items are very impressive. They take a year by year approch to break down the history. Great interactive video displays as well.

Great museum with a great amount of information. The museum was limiting the amount of people inside due to covid. I felt safe the entire time. They also validate your parking if you park next to the museum in their lot.
The main exhibit is on the first floor and is presented chronologically. You walk through and get to experience what being a soldier on either side of the war was like. Very sobering and definitely worth the visit. They have a rotating exhibit upstairs. The current exhibit I didn't find to be too interesting but YMMV.

This museum is an absolutely stunning collection, beautifully curated and displayed. I enjoyed the logical continuity of the main exhibit hall and the obvious passion for the subject. The location inside the ruins of Tredegar Iron works adds to the immersion without making it uncomfortable or feel outdated. As a passionate museum goer I can honestly say this is one of my new favorites.
