“Wonderful shop! Was in the area only for a few days and needed to get an inspection done and a tune up. I'm usually pretty leery to take a vehicle to a shop on my own because I'm a woman, and I don't know much about cars, so I'm liable to believe that the headlights need freezer fluid if they say so. But the guys here we're completely fair and through. One of the guys were even nice enough to give me a ride up to the nearest shopping center so I could grab some breakfast while I waited without me asking. He just saw me start walking and offered it on his own. Kinda makes me wish I was staying in the area because they'd have a loyal customer for sure! Definitely highly recommend!”

I drive a Mini Clubman S, and as a Mini driver I’ve unfortunately grown used to mechanic’s shops charging steep prices to perform even just basic maintenance work on my car. I call it the Mini markup. Bob’s shop was recommended to me by a friend when it came time to replace my front brake pads, and my experience at his shop was a refreshing change of pace. Bob had me in and out in a couple hours for a price that was fair without trying to up-sell me on work that I didn’t need, which makes me feel like I could trust him in the future to give me honest assessments of needed repairs. When our car dash board lit up like a Christmas tree. Oil check light, ABS light, traction control light, on & on . . . We contacted a Virginia friend for lodging and a GOOD Mechanic! Our friend called Chris, her connection to Harris Garage in Hayes, VA. . . Without an appointment, Chris said , “ We’ll take a look!” The problem was a check value, and a few other items that required parts. Chris ordered the parts said it would be a day, after the parts arrived. We phoned ahead and canceled our B & B reservation in South Carolina. . . Thinking car troubles would delay our trip south. Oh well, that’s a curveball in Life. To our surprise, Chris called the next day, and said, “ Your car is fixed, ready to pick up!” Damn fast! What a surprise! We picked up the car, and started driving to Charleston, South Carolina . . . in time for our B & B reservation! This is an amazing organization, and I personally met the owner, Michael Harris, and Chris at 5:05 pm (technically the shop was closed) . . . I thanked them for their fantastic customer service & last minute emergency repairs on my Subaru! I can’t say enough how impressive they treated strangers from a distant state, traveling through Virginia who encountered car troubles. Anytime if these folks travel to Maine, I will treat them to beer 🍺 & lobsters! 🦞 on me ! Thank you gentlemen! Harris Garage is family owned, which opened in the 1940’s by Michael’s Grandfather! “Took my car to the dealer for inspection it’s 21 years old was told it would be 9000 to fix the exhaust muffler and a few other things I can’t remember the mechanic suggested this shop which is in my neighborhood.when we arrived and told the front desk girl what we needed she stopped us and said hold on then the owner came out took a look at why the car had a rejected sticker on it pulled my car into the shop and came out and said exactly what we needed. And it would not be 9000 dollars we brought the car in the next day and less than four hours later it was ready for pick up and I was thrilled no rejection sticker and it was not loud any more. This place is amazing the owner is very honest and hard working he has been in business for more than thirty years and does amazing work. I’m back on the road and it was a lot less than 9000 dollars. “My father in law introduced me to them, he's been using them for decades without issue. Very honest, fast, and affordable. One of the best places for state inspections. (One year my SO forgot this place existed and took our car to a different place that was slightly closer to the house to get state inspected, The other place offered 3 reasons why the state inspection was denied and said it'd be $800 worth of work to get it to pass. We asked for a rejection sticker and drove it here for a second opinion. They said the other place made up 2 BS reasons and did 1 thing that needed to be fixed for $200. But explained we'd need to take it back to the place that originally failed us to get them to reinspect it. The other place passed us and claimed Knight's Service Center fixed the 3 items they failed us for, but Knight's made it clear the only fixed the one thing that needed to be done and did zero work on the other made up failures the other place failed us for.)”
