“Dr. Rubin is my hero! I had 6 surgeries at Virginia Ortho due to MRSA that I contracted from the original surgery to repair my broken ankle. I was left handicapped and in severe pain. Fast forward a year and along comes Dr. Rubin. He fixed the torn tendon the previous doctor missed and scoped the subtalar that they failed to address. It made a huge difference in my ability to walk and pain levels. It was during one of our last visits that he told me about TOTAL ANKLE REPLACEMENTS and said to live with my ankle as long as I could. He said technology is making advancements and I would be a candidate. I waited almost 5 years and he changed my life! I had a total ankle replacement 7 WEEKS ago. He told me that it would be a year before I was happy with the results. Not true! It has only been 7 weeks and I can walk barefooted, I can ride my trike, I walk without holding onto things to steady myself, and I haven't had to crawl to the bathroom one single time! Every day I find myself able to do something that I had to give up when I was left handicapped in 2011. He is an amazing surgeon and has given me back my life! If my results are this good at 7 weeks I can only imagine what a year post op will be like! I consider Dr. Rubin to be the kindest and most gifted surgeon that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I am blessed to be able to call him my Doctor!”
