“The environment is so nice and the service is wonderful. For appetizers definitely get the Pork Buns. The Miso Ramen has pork in it with a creamy broth and it is very flavorful. Today I had the Volcano Ramen, one of their newer dishes, and man is it spicy. Please only get it if your spice tolerance is high. I eat spicy foods 80% of the time but this is really spicy. This is the type of spice that stings your lips. Also try their sushi too, just know their food here is very flavorful.”

He answered the few questions we had about the chicken sandwich and then punched in our order for 5 people. At my request he even mixed a dash of sprite into my Powerade drink! “This is one of the best small, family owned casual dining restaurants I've been to on the Peninsula. Located in an easy to find spot on Richmond Rd (Rt 60) with plenty of parking available. It's easy to find, especially if you're new to the area. I've only dined in here twice, but each time, we were greeted when we got in and were seated pretty quickly. There were a good number of workers/staff each time. They seem to have fairly good teamwork and coordinate things pretty well so you wouldn't have to wait long for anything. We were checked on at our table at good intervals to make sure our dining needs were being met. Food wise, you get good size portions... probably more than you'd expect for the price. I'd say it's pretty average priced. In fact, look at the size of that meaty tilapia I got for my mojarra frita dish. And the guacamole that came with it sure was a good size helping. I had to take my leftovers home because that was a lot for me to eat in one sitting. But it was really good!”

Initially we went inside to stock up on snacks, but discovered the kitchen and cute 'lil dining area in the back and we just had to stop and sit a spell! The cook, Madison, turned on the tv for us and we watched Gunsmoke while she prepared our food. And the food? Par excellence! We complimented Madison on her skills, but she wouldn't hear any of it. Well Madison, you DO bring it with your skill-sets and we will be back to try your steak! If you're in the area, you owe it to yourself to give Flat Rock Country Store a try! The people are kind and helpful, and the food is awesome. :-) In my travels across the country as a photographer, I've come to realize that when you enter a store like this with weathered wooden floors, you're usually in for a special time. Meatballs appetizer ummm yummy topped with cheese. Grilled chicken breast salad very filling and definitely will get rid of your salad cravings as a meal. Italian house salads we got with the pastas dishes have a slice of cheese and salami and we are greedy with the ranch and Italian dressings. The chicken Florentine is a great alternative to all the regular pasta dishes and he couldn’t finish it all but wanted to is how happy he was with the dish. Pizza we specifically ordered with black olives that I love, the sliced Italian sausage and not the balls which he loved also with mushrooms and onions large thin crust a delicious creation all of us shared.”
