My personal experience with Valinda was great! I was a client for a year or two and then felt confident in what I had learned to graduate out of counseling.I have recommended her to several people/friends and always receive great feedback. Valinda is a well of knowledge and wisdom. She can teach her clients practical information to be applied outside of her sessions. This allows for the client to have a tangible “take home” or “take away” so that they don’t have to wonder where their money is going. She has the perfect balance of empathy and compassion with a no nonsense and direct approach. I would highly recommend Valinda for anyone with marital issues, premarital counseling, depression, anxiety, identity issues, LGBTQ+ related issues, or even basic life adjustment issues. She is a counselor who happens to be a Christian; therefore, she understands the Christian viewpoint as well as understands and can counsel those who are not religious. She is LGBT affirming as well as LGBT Christian affirming. Valinda has a very eclectic approach in her therapeutic style and theory, so she tends to be a “one size fits all” type of therapist. In other words, she has many tricks to pull out of her hat to help her clients. I’m not really sure where you can find a better counselor - and I have had a few. She definitely deserves a 5 star rating!
I’ve known Valinda for years! She was of great help and counsel during one of the toughest times of my life. She’s gracious, safe, and honest. I still cling to much of her wisdom. I highly recommend her!
Valinda helped me understand parts of my early life that were affecting my relationships as an adult. She gave me tools to cope with and strengthen different areas (guilt, forgiveness, honesty, commitment, parenting and boundaries among others). She suggested variety of books and finished sessions with prayer when asked. Valinda was an amazing support for me. I highly recommend her for her knowledge, immeasurable resources, kindness, empathy and effective counseling methods.
