A hidden little park just off of Lake Washington, very quiet with wild life
.
This is the swamp that Higman and Larrison wrote about in "Union Bay: the Life of a City Marsh" in the 1950s. The UW's Urban Horticulture folks are responsible for the boardwalk, which provides good access, tho there are some fallen trees across the trail that limit w/c access. If you love cottonwoods, cattails, blackberry bushes, redwings, and beavers, you should pay it a visit - but please leave Fido home, OK?
This is a nice little nature spot in the middle of Seattle. They recently built a boardwalk, and there is a lot of cool wildlife. I recommend bringing binoculars. ????

Lets see what is popping up at the Union Bay Natural Area. We will walk around 3 miles through the recently restored wetland to the shoreline and along it back through the wetlands followed up by a side trip to the Union Bay The Union Bay Boglands is also known as the Yesler Swamp Boardwalk.
