The food is delicious.
Our wedding was on an expedited timeline and so that left my husband and I nearly zero room for errors. Naturally, the only thing that went sideways was alterations. Luckily, Beverly saved my dress, therefore she saved our wedding!
My dress was a Pnina Tornai. As we do not live in NYC, I did not want to use Kleinfeld for alterations. Our wedding planner pulled strings at Luly Yang for alterations because they also regularly handle couture. As they are a prominent boutique for high-end gowns, I was happy to listen to the professional. Unfortunately, the showroom manager called to reschedule our appointment several times when their master seamstress fell ill. After the second reschedule and with less than 30 days to go, I knew we couldn't afford to wait and see if she got better, so our wedding planner gave us Beverly's name.
Beverly was very responsive and confident of her abilities and timing. We quickly set our first appointment and I brought my gown in to her with all the possible extras I might need. Beverly was quick and efficient, her masterful eye seeing at once where each change needed to be made, and what was possible. She offered her timeline and pricing, and both were reasonable.
Beverly simply exudes competence--nay, excellence. At no point did I ever question, "Can she do this? Can she do it in time??" In addition, she was open to my feedback. If I thought one strip of tulle was a centimeter too long, she was happy to adjust it. She took great care with my gown, including the many stones glued on and the handful that fell off (through zero fault of her own).
I believe Beverly takes all of her work this seriously. During one of my appointments on a rainy day, a woman began to enter Beverly's shop with her dog. Let's just say, Beverly was allowing NONE of it. She immediately addressed the woman and informed her that in no uncertain terms was her dog allowed in the shop. And I LOVED it. I love my dog and he is incredibly well behaved, but he saw my dress only at our wedding and never before. I wasn't going to chance dog hair on my gown, his claws accidentally ripping the train, or any potential dirt on his paws while in my own home, much less at a clothing studio; I would have lost my mind had a stranger's dog been responsible for anything like that. So I appreciated Beverly's swift response to the random passerby thinking it was anywhere near appropriate to bring her wet dog into a studio containing the most memorable clothes people will ever wear in their lives. The woman likely did not feel as I did, but since she didn't pay for my dress or my wedding, I was okay with that.
Beverly executed every single item she committed to and in exactly the time she quoted. The results were absolutely wonderful and I cannot recommend her work highly enough.
My gown required:
Bust fitting, including removing and re-placing the crystal applique on the bodice
Shortening of hem, including re-placing Swarovski stones
Creation of bustle
Moving the locations of the straps
Reinforcing the linguine-thick straps
Letting out the hips
Smoothing a pucker on the front
Also, I was 4 months pregnant at our wedding, so she had that additional challenge!
Bervely is a such weed lady that help me with some alterations in my dress on last moment. Totally my fairytale wedding. I truly refer.
Beverly is a sweetheart and cares about her work. She got my dress done in a good amount of time. The only thing I was unhappy about was the hem. My dress is designed to where the hem falls in a zigzag type fashion. The hem was not even. One section right above my left foot was higher than the other side. Other than that she did a great job. You couldn't really see it since I was on grass, but for what I paid, I expected it to be even.
Beverly does beautiful alterations. I’ve had my last two bridesmaid dresses altered there and she did lovely work and she is so incredibly friendly and helpful. The prices are fair and the work gets done in a reasonable amount of time.
