This is a great facility! But- if you're making your decision about an AFH purely based on reviews, then you're doing it wrong. Drop by the facilities and check them out. I encourage you to visit MANY AFH homes to find the right one for your family. Maybe Willow Creek will meet your needs- or maybe you'll find a different AFH that suits your family better.
And, I also think it's important to look at the publicly posted inspection from DSHS to find out if AFHs are meeting the standards that Washington State has set forth for AFHs. To save you the work, I've attached a picture of the most recent inspection.
Good luck!
First off, I need to address the negative reviews. The director (Jeannie) has pretty high standards for caregivers. Those high standards coupled with the fact that caring for seniors with extreme mobility challenges is very difficult- means you're going to have pretty high turnover. Jeannie is a tough cookie, and I think if you work for her and step out of line she'll show you the door real quick. I get a feeling that several of the negative reviews are from former caregivers that didn't meet Jeannie's standards.
Now, as far as the facilities- they're nice, safe, and the residents seem happy. I always drop by unannounced and I've never seen anything but good care. Willow Creek is a great place for anyone who needs extra care.
My father lives there and has for five years. When they took him in he was slipping away from us very quickly and we expected this would be a hospice situation for him but the staff and access to local doctors changed everything! He started gaining weight, started interacting with staff and other residents and now five years later he’s stronger than ever. I read a poor review by some guy named Brian and I have never met this guy! I see my dad weekly and I know all the staff and residents. I think Brian has the wrong place in mind. Willow Creek adult care is a wonderful family setting and the owner lives on site and is involved 24 hours a day.
My mom is here at Willow Creek. She is doing so much better than when she was in a nursing home. The staff here are very nice and very caring of the residents. She gets one on one care and she is very happy to be here. So am I, I no longer have to worry about her. Thank you Jeannie. And a big thank you to the staff. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone else who is looking for a good home to place your loved one in..
