Wonderful visit helping the congregation celebrate their 50th Anniversary. This is a church grounded in the Word and experiencing true fellowship.
When you move to a new area, finding a church can be a challenge. Kathy and I mostly fellowship at Calvary Chapels, both at home and when possible on travel. When we moved to Washington, that is what we tried first. After a month we decided to keep looking. Next we tried Lake Tapps Christian Church on Meyer's road. Again, after a month we decided to keep looking. Please don't get me wrong, they are both fine churches, we were just hoping for a better fit.
Lake Tapps Community Church was our 3rd try and as the cliche goes, we knew we were home. The sermon was well researched and artfully delivered. They are very Bible based, the pastor, Tim Heath, could have succeeded at a SANS instructor. One of the first non-Sunday morning events for us was a Valentine's dinner, we really enjoyed getting to know the folks at our table. Kathy was very comfortable with the women's events. We loved our small group, they put us with a bunch of geeks, we have a coder, several engineers, so this cyber-security researcher feels very comfortable.
This church was the first time we became members. At Calvary Chapel people just come and go and they really do come and go! I think membership raises the commitment level just a bit.
The bottom line, if you find yourself in the Bonney Lake/Sumner area of Washington state and are looking for a church to visit give this a try. Let me know a couple days in advance and you are welcome to Sunday lunch with Kathy and I. Just let me know your preferences, I can do vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, diabetic friendly, lean protein, no red meat and my specialty - bacon rich fare.
