“Wow if you haven't visited the Mountain Loop Highway & it's off-roads (former logging roads) east of Verlot, you are in for an unbelievable treasure of undescribable beauty kept hidden yet any other State, Province, Country would demand it's preservation as a National Park. I know all the little secrets of this place of wonder & a lot of it's history & if you are freaked out by the scary looking mountain people keep in mind a GAY campground has been here over 20 years with no locals freaked out, so relax, fasten your seat belt because most roads here are in bad shape! So is the restroom at the Verlot Ranger Station now a public service center. The men's room is awful, but hey, it's worse in the big city, but... they have hot water & campgrounds with showers or skinny dipping in the rivers on a hot day. Nobody is going to call a cop, there's no cell service here, so relax, but be prepared to be your own cop if you want to exercise your 2nd Amendment. The biggest tourist trap are the ice caves at Big4 mountain, but I know a secret spot where you can drive a thousand feet above them and witness the entire valley below. A view that will stun you. My family first came here from Mercer Island in 1968. Talk about culture shock!I'm 57 now & God, I love this place. Snohomish Counties little secret. Oh forgot... I took these pics last weekend, March 2, 2018. Red Bridge... Google it. And... Center rings of a tree 700 years old, cut down to make coffee tables probably, but these are the first rings of it's life notice how friken colder it was here back then. That is at Verlot on display.”

“They boiled, pressure tested and flow tested the radiator for my old 340-powered Plymouth. Found a fissure in the top tank, repaired & re-tested. Very reasonable, so I pulled the radiator from an F350 I bought from a friend's dad's estate- it had sat in Oregon's cattle country for 2.5 years, so figured I would find an issue or 4. Jerry tested & told me to get a new, all-aluminum replacement version at Performance. Respecting his honestly, I just gave them my re-vamped Travco motor home radiator to boil out, flow & pressure test. They came through again, getting it clean inside & out, and it is in perfect shape now.”

“So, this place was wonderful. Staying at the Monroe Motel was more of a get away, than a room for the night. The place has three different levels of accommodations. The regular strip motel rooms, trailers, and cabins. The room we stayed in had new carpets, a nice TV, a REALLY comfortable bed, and access to a serene view of the gentle flowing Woods Creek that runs along the back side of the property. There are fulltime residents (much like all hotels have) and so there is a lived in community vibe. There is an iconic, American travelers, rest culture, that you sometimes have to look really hard for, but here it is in spades. This isn't a Best Western where you have a soulless experience in one of a hundred of the same room. This is a stay at the heart of hospitality, with the gentle sounds of the creek accompany the rose bushes and sunset.”

“If you need oral surgery this is the place to go. I am a dentist’s nightmare. Bad experiences as a child left me terrified of them. Dr Noblitt, who unfortunately is leaving, is an awesome surgeon. He has done 3 teeth with minimal bleeding, pain and exceptional healing. I will now have to find another Dr in this practice because I have a high level of trust. They are patient and kind. Highly recommend.”
