Called about confusion with absentee voting on the computer and getting a ballot last week and got a patient explanation of how it works and how the system requests get prossesed by hand so that's why it wouldn't confirm it was being sent right away like I expected. I really want us to have a better system for mass absentee voting or vote-by-mail. That's a legal thing that needs changing along with getting a ranked vote so you could pick your top candidates in an election and not get burned voting for your ideal but unlikely winner. With the mail vote, people would vote more, elections could be spread out over time and so be more easily run and monitored. With the ranked voting, going 3rd party and seeing if enough people vote that way wouldn't be penalized so bad that we have little choice and make "hedging" second rate decisions just to get someone half decent.
