Magnificent park, with a beautiful lake, and great for families, and kids throughout the year. Whereas the lake is full of boats during summers, expect a whole lot of snowmobiles and snowshoeing during the winters.
The trails range from easy to moderate, and also have a dedicated bike route.
The place even has a small dog beach, and a dedicated play area for kids.
The restrooms are clean, and tidy.
Ensure you get a state park ticket in advance as the park ticket booth is still not functional.
Update - The ticket booth is now open, and one can buy tickets at the location.
It also serves as a small concessions shop, selling bottled water, and ice-creams.
A lovely dog beach where you can get in with your pup. Each year it improves a bit more. Water is clean and clear with a sandy bottom!
Beautiful park as a whole! I ran a race here this morning which included climbing their tall tower and snapped this fantastic overview of Pike Lake! The trails are challenging and very scenic! It does seem there are areas to rent as well for picnics and such, but my party was at the finish line so I dont know too much about those options!
We need Lakes like this in California, weather was warm 73 degrees. Enjoyed the board walk area
The dog beach is adjacent to the "people beach", as you need to follow the wheelchair accessible path from the parking lot to the dog beach. The dog beach is nice, but small. It is a great place to take your water loving dog, as the water is clean and the park is well kept. It gets busy on weekends and hot summer evenings, so be prepared to share the beach with other dogs and their families during peak times. You need to keep your dog on leash on the trail, but can let your dog run/fetch/swim freely at the beach. I'm only giving this 4 stars due to the small size and lack of pet waste stations. I would love to see an expansion of the dog beach, and at least one pet waste station along the trail to the beach.
