I've been told there are deer here... not sure where. Word to the wise though- bring waterproof boots. Less hiking more swamping.
I've been hunting this area over 10 years. The deer population has certainly diminished but a few of them do still rest and wander through the same deep treacherous areas that few of us hunters have the courage to venture. There's still a few female turkeys deep in the same areas that the deer wander. Unfortunately, that area also have the big coyotes chasing them and the deer too. I like the opening weekend for the pheasant hunt that is stocked alongside a few natural migratory woodcock stopping by at the same time. While hunting, I'm captivated by some of the simple natural beauty of the various terrain with meandering creeks some with running water. It can be a peaceful solitude experience until you hear an intermittent gun shot or two.
Love fishing here dont always catch something but its quiet and cozy
Can't say enough about this place, which is in my backyard. Hopefully the ducks other than teal will start to migrate here. Other than that, good land, a little over hunted for pheasant and waterfowl. Haven't tried deer hunting here. But can't complain when you have a place to hunt in the kettles which isn't easy to come by these days. Great dog training area.
