“Faced with an overwhelming schedule, I had an opportunity to get an intern who would help alleviate some of the workload once they were trained and their project defined. I needed quickly create a plan that would get the proper resources available for the training as well as lay out the plan for the project. I contacted Dr. Nelson for help on organizing this project. Her back-to-basics approach forced me to think about many things that I had overlooked. Together we developed a structured plan that allowed me to cover all the on-boarding tasks as well and layout a systematic plan for the summer that achieved my objectives for the project. When I submitted the proposal for approval by my manager, he was surprised by how comprehensive and complete the plan was. And it allowed my intern achievable and clear goals for every week that she was working for me. We achieved a significant improvement in the performance of one of my processes, which delighted my customer. Later, we hired that intern to take over a sales territory where she is extraordinarily successful. I had extremely high hopes that a coach would be beneficial to me in this situation, but never did I expect the success that was the result of spending a few hours developing my plan with a Dr. Nelson.”
