“Never had an auto accident, then at a most sensitive time in my life, while waiting in traffic I was rear-ended and hit the car in front of me. A stabbing pain in my sternum, the car totaled and my fear of my forthcoming heart surgery triggered shear hysteria. Fire Rescue, Station 19 arrived and Jupiter Police officer John Matonti held my hand and helped me to breath as the Fire Rescue team led me into the ambulance with soothing words, kindness and understanding. I will always be grateful to them. Thank you to the A shift: A. Nuquist, A. Wallace, J. Nelson, M. Bacelo and C. McPherson. Peace and Love to all of you.....Cora Ciaffone”

“I just love the firefighters at the Village Park station. They were out cleaning their Fire Truck water tanks the other day and my son and I stopped to watch. They waved us over and let my 3 year old help hold the fire hose while it was spraying onto the grass. It was such an amazing experience and we will never forget it. My son has been talking about it ever since. Thank you so much for being such a positive and thoughtful asset to our community!!! Keep up the good work, you all are such an inspiration to all the children in this great city we all love.”

“We highly appreciate and respect the men and women of all fire departments, and particularly those servicing the City of Moreno Valley. They have assisted us in many ways and for that we are thankful. However, I must take exception to the comments of one member who responded to a call to our residence this morning. I will not mention any names nor divulge any other information other than to say our residence is an independent living group home catering to those with mental issues. Today, one of our residents experienced a reaction to an illegal substance which he acquired and consumed while away from the home. Because we were concerned about his condition his mother was notified who, in turn, called for paramedic assistance. While interrogating the resident one of the paramedics asked who was in charge of the home and, why, if there are house rules, was this allowed to happen. I answered that we absolutely do not allow drugs or alcohol in the home. But I told him that we cannot control what they do when they are away from the home. A few minutes later, that paramedic made the comment that we got to stop blaming the streets for what's happening. I did not want to start a debate during an already stressful moment, so I did not respond. But I'm going to ask now who was he implying should be blamed if not the drug pushers on the street taking advantage of people with mental issues? Was he implying that we are to blame? The resident came to us already having a history of drug abuse. He has a case worker. Shouldn't Social Services be to blame? These drug dealers are in an area known to be the place to go to buy illegal substances. Shouldn't the police be to blame? If that paramedic is reading this I welcome him to a discussion of this matter.”
