“I got a high and tight haircut and paid $12.00 for it. The haircut was quick and neat. About 7 minutes. The wait, however, was long. I picked ticket number 96 and waited from 81. Lots of shipmates were getting a haircut on a Sunday afternoon. I ended up waiting about 20 minutes. Not to bad. Don't pick a ticket and go walking through the shopping area, you will miss your turn. They are well staffed and go through a lot of heads with the quickness! When you're done, make sure to tip your barber with cash before you leave or get cash back at the register and come back to the barber to tip em. Highly recommended.”

There is also a Master Barber instructor there as well. These guys have been cutting hair for decades and very good at. Jeff has cut hair in some of the hoods of so not sure why one guy said he didn’t feel welcomed. I’m Mexican and although there may not be a welcome celebration when you walk in as soon as you get I. The chair you are welcomed! Great cuts for a great old school price. What matters most is a great cut for a great price and this is the place.”

The procedures take a while because he’s careful and thoughtful, but time passes very quickly as Gary plays good music and is a great conversationalist. “There are only two barbers that cut my hair during my time in Gillespie from '65 to '94: Harry and Stan. Harry was first, and Stan wasn't around then. Harry had his shop on Macoupin St. right next to the pool hall. Now, that entire building is gone. I don't know what happened to Harry (retirement, going out of business, death), but I guess sometime in the early '80s or late '70s I started going to Stan, who had recently opened his barber shop where it still is now. Stan always did a fine job of cutting my hair. And being a young fellow chasing girls and always trying to look cool, I was pretty picky about my hair.”
