“Our family had what we thought was going to be an easy, quick Medicaid application since our mom had minimal assets and large amount of debt, so at first, I was surprised when my sister hired a lawyer. My surprise quickly turned into gratitude when we learned that our mom's finances had more complexity than expected (ie. small accounts at multiple banks, unexplained withdrawals, 401K company that had been bought and sold, etc) resulting in multiple rounds of questions from the Board of Social Services, that honestly read like stereo instructions.
