“TL;DR: A very skilled bodywork professional who listens to what you're saying, but more importantly listens to what your body is saying. I always leave feeling lighter, straighter, and far less tense. I have never had a masseuse quite like Ila. Ila is fantastic. She has spent time and energy immersed in the knowledge and wisdom of different bodywork practices. I can't speak to all that she's learned, but she uses very different methods based on the problem area in combination with the solution. She can easily stretch, cup, knead, circulate, sound, heat, and really push my body all in one session. She addresses body issues in a much more 'whole body, whole mind' manner. She knows what she's doing so can come off a bit direct, but I think that kind of directness is what we Seattlites need every once and a while :) I love our communication, it feels open and honest, and sometimes she enters spiritual territory that I am unfamiliar with, but she gives me the space to digest and absorb anything within--and slightly beyond--my comfort zone. Essentially, she's not a missionary about it. I was born with a shoulder injury (a palsy) that will always be with me. She listened to my concerns about the injury, and she has pushed that shoulder to do things just beyond its comfort zone. But she has also been a miracle worker with the opposite shoulder. All of the muscles and tendons that don't work on one side have to do twice the work on the other side. She has leveraged strong hands, correct pressure (while always checking in with me), stretching, movement, cupping, digging to help with the tension and pain that has built up over the years. I hope to be seeing Ila for a very long time.”

The bread is baked fresh every hour and any bread not sold in that time is considered day old bread and sold cheaply (sold separate). They also have fresh bread for sale too. They veggies are cut fresh every morning and the staff is very friendly. I would recommend this place to all my meat lovers and vegetarians. They are very considerate of allergies to gluten so they will change they gloves and they do have an unwhich option which is a sandwich wrapped in lettuce instead of using bread. They also have a veggie option where it’s just cheese and no meat. You can even remove the cheese if you want and add more veggies. There is no additional charge for veggies (ONLY the Avocado). For the mighty meat loves they have a Gargantuan (Gar-gan-chew-an) which has all the meats except bacon and tuna. You can add bacon and tuna if you like at an additional charge, but it’s the most huge sandwich they have. If you really wanna get going you can order a 16” sub which is double the normal size 8”. Two sandwiches in one. So delish. Come down and try it out.”

“A friend and I made a quick detour into Oakland to check out Burma Superstar on our last trip to the bay, and it was absolutely worth the time. The restaurant has a reputation for having excellent food and a solid dining experience and it didn't disappoint. It's in a nice part of Oakland, and if you're lucky you might just be able to find a parallel parking spot nearby! Pro Tip: Use the Yelp app to put yourself in line if you're going at a busy time! When I went, we didn't realize this was an option, but luckily we went on a weeknight and there wasn't much of a crowd so we were inside the restaurant within 10 minutes of arrival. Even if you're stuck outside for a bit, they have benches and heaters outside so you aren't uncomfortable. Now onto the food...I can honestly say that I didn't dislike anything I had to eat at Burma Superstar (an accomplishment, I promise!). I had the Spicy Noodles as my main dish, and the Salt and Pepper Calamari as my starter -- both excellent options. The coconut rice is a nice amount of coconut flavor while maintaining the innate sweetness therein as well. One thing to note, the Samusas are NOT to be confused with Samosas (Indian). The taste is different, but I can see some relation as the execution is similar. Not a food item, but added bonus: they have coconut water in-coconut! They'll crack the coconut and add a straw for you, and at the end of the night, they'll also completely break the coconut for you to be able to eat the meat if you'd like. Overall, I have 0 hangups in saying that Burma Superstar does live up to the hype you've been hearing about it -- go check it out!”
