If I ever needed further explanation, I was able to email my instructors for extra help, which I enjoyed. The respiratory lab has all the ventilators that you'll see in the hospitals, and we were welcome to study them as we needed. Towards the end of the program, we spent a lot of time preparing for the board exams. The exams aren't easy, but I passed them on my first go :'-) The best part of it all is that they stay in touch after you graduate to see where they may be able to refer you for work. Thanks Ms. Tijerino!! (And of course Mr. Kregal, Ms. Tatro, Ms. Scharf, Ms. Brik, Ms. Lecour)”

“I had to sadly have one of my two chickens put down, and I brought her body to the Division of Animal Health for testing. Despite not being a commercial farmer - this was my pet - everyone was very empathetic and helpful. In particular, pathologist Dr. Craig Sarver was amazing. Took me back into a room to go over the process, was so kind, informative and reassuring. He not only took a lot of time out of his day to walk me through everything, but offered advice, gave me a list of vets who will treat chickens, and gave me his card in case I had other questions. He thoroughly reviewed the situation and told me what tests were unnecessary in order to keep costs down. All together, it was only $34 for an hour of his time and everything he was going to have to do for the necropsy. I can't thank them enough.”
