“My experience with Camping World did not start out so well however my latest interactions may have changed my overall opinion. We purchased our travel trailer a little over a year ago. Any time you purchase a new travel trailer, you need to use it several times to identify areas that need to be adjusted. Camping World advises you about that up front. Most of the problems that we had were from their lack of communication, over promise, and under deliver. Then there was a change in management. When the new GM Mark arrived, he told me he was making changes and asked that I give him a shot at changing my opinion. He introduced me to his new service manager and passed me along to him. We dropped off our trailer and the new service manager guaranteed us that we would have it back by a certain date. Not only did that not happen, but he also went on vacation without letting anyone know and without ordering any of the parts we needed. Since he was out, the parts manager David Bews stepped in. He was extremely apologetic and made it very clear that his #1 concern was getting my family back in our trailer, camping, and making memories. From that moment on, every promise that David made, every commitment that he made, he met. Most importantly, he communicated with me on a regular basis and kept me in the loop with what was going on. When the service manager returned from vacation I was naturally passed back to him. Our trailer was at their location getting repairs/adjustments and a 22 point inspection. We had special notes to have brakes and wheel bearings checked. After being told that the trailer was ready, we made the 3 hour drive to pick it up. Only to find out once we got there that it had not been completed. The GM was very apologetic. He was there when the order was placed and just wanted to make it right. Since we had plans for camping that weekend he agreed to drive to our house and pick it up with a 2 day turn around. On August 28th they picked up the camper. While it was in their shop it was damaged. I get it, things happen. The problem I have is that the service manager dragged his feet in getting it repaired. On October 4th it was finally delivered. We had to cancel our September camping reservations in the Keys and incurred a cancellation fee because we did not have our trailer. The 2 day turn around turned into 37 days. The list goes on and on…. After my conversation with the service manager he agrees to reimburse me for my monthly payment that I made on our trailer since in was their fault. A couple days later he quits. Again, David steps in, takes ownership of the situation, and makes things happen. I can go on and on about the issues we have had and I feel it all stems from lack of leadership. Hopefully Camping World will take a closer look at who they have working there and recognize the leader they have with David Bews. I have watched him deal with many unhappy customers as well as the way he speaks with his employees and I can honestly tell you that he needs to be in charge there. A Team is only as good as their leader. If the leader does not follow through with commitments why should they. A leader goes first and sets the example. That is David. Hopefully Camping World will see the leader that we see and appreciate in David. I am told that I will receive the reimbursement check in the mail. We shall see. To be clear, this 5 star rating is because David has earned it. I honestly believe his is doing everything he can to turn this place around. He truly cares about his customers and his company's reputation. Despite everything we have been through, he has never once placed blame on others or spoke negatively. He simply handles it.
