When the Resonate Church body heard about my situation, they quickly organized and almost every week, from the beginning of August through the end of November, my husband Tim and I received an assortment of meals, gifts, wine, bouquet of flowers, and -- from a safe distance, often standing in the hot sun -- a friendly, encouraging chat about finding hope in this situation. I realized that these families were trying to figure out how to work-full time, manage homeschoolers besides other commitments and responsibilities, and I was always amazed that they still found time to honor Tim and me. When I expressed my gratitude and concern for people dealing in a difficult time, I was told not to worry, that they loved and cared for us and did not want us to feel forgotten. Let me be clear, these were not random acts of kindness but an intentional expression of love in a practical way. This had a profound impact on our lives because over a long period of time they demonstrated true kindness and compassion.
