I bought different kinds of flour and cornmeal and have enjoyed the Shriver Homestead recipes very much. A National Treasure. Truly. They had a very tough year with the extensive rainfall this year and had to cancel 2 main fundraisers. If you are in the area when they are open, stop by and ENJOY the history. “There is more than one way up to Walker's Dream but if you are a beginner hiker and you aren't prepared to push yourself, then this hike may be be difficult for you. I also suggest hitting the trail early because once it starts to warm up there is a good chance you will encounter snakes who are only wanting to sun themselves. I saw two snakes coming back down: One was a bull snake, the other was a rattlesnake. The ruins of the house are gated but there is plenty of space to walk around and among the ruins, just don't expect to walk among the actual walls of the house.”

“We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to visit Shingle Creek Park and parked behind the visitors center - on 192 going west and went inside. The visitor's center is much more than what you think, it's a small museum, that is high quality and provides great insight about the history of the area - Kissimmee . The museum director greets everyone who walks in the museum, is very friendly who provided us with much information. Don't miss seeing the exhibits - it's all free including access to beautiful Shingle Park. Kids will love everything about the center and the park. Don't forget to bring the kid's bicycles!”
