“Stayed here in 2020 from August thru end of December. The Meighen's are great hosts, very attentive and accommodating to help get you settled in. After that they check in now and then and keep a good eye on the place. The parking spots are large, the country setting very pleasant, and the place is well kept. I would highly recommend this park for a short stay or long.”

“Took my dog for a quick walk. Park is next door to an elementary school, has a playground, basketball and tennis courts, covered picnic area with a grill. Also next to a small rec center (?). Has a very nice, well kept walking park and an adult community center. Located in a residential area, this park is convenient for all age groups.”

“Small but mighty! The total trail length was under two miles as I recall but it’s one of the favorite parks my wife and I have been to. There are basically two areas to the woods. Closer to the parking lot there are older trees, mostly tulip poplars and sugar maples with some red oaks. We went in late Fall and these trees made the woods very yellow. Beautiful. Farther from the parking lot the woods get scrubbier and younger with the sugar maples replaced by red maples and some pine added in. The park had the biggest Osage Orange tree I’ve ever seen, around 50 feet tall. Fruit all over the ground. Truly an awesome tree. We saw a ten point buck very close to us on the trail. The “ledges” are small areas. Nice but nothing too special. If you want to be impressed with rocks you’ll probably be disappointed. Housing, etc all around the park though I don’t recall a lot of road noise.”

“I love the trail they have, it is very calm when I go. I always see the maintenance people, they take care of the lawn and also check/fix anything that is broken. They have multiple batting fields which are numbered. They have a little work out area which you are welcome to use.”

“Small park with not much to do. The random benches along the river make for a nice spot to just sit and relax.”

“Haven’t been here in many years since I was younger. New buildings, everything even nicer than I remember. Took the family for the day when the weather was nice, had a playground in the center in the park and the kiddo loved that. I loved the dioramas of the old circus setups. The grounds are as beautiful as ever and it was a great day to walk the grounds and see the many beautiful types of plants and flowers. As every time I’ve ever been always need more time, just means we will be back soon. There is so much to see, the grounds are worth the trip alone and then the museum for circus items and the art collection. You could easily fill several days or many trips to see it all.”

“Norman Hamlin Park is known by the OG’s of Orangevale as Snipes Park. Is a very cute and quiet park. It has a couple of swings, jungle gym , a few benches, a water fountain for people and one for the dogs and a book exchange box. At the back of the park is a trail that takes you down the the river.”

“They have a kiddie pool that's only a 1ft deep, PERFECT for little kids and not to bad for an adult to sit in. Wasn't to busy either. There's also a playground for the kids but I couldn't get them out of the pool, looked fun.”

“This barely fell short of 5 stars.. I often think the money the these places bring in could def always have more money put back into them. Bathrooms were decent. Having laundry is a big plus. Seems like most long term campers take up all the good spots which is disappointing. That being said I would try it again when it’s warmer out to check out all the amenities, seems like lots to do when the weather is better! Has potential to be really fun here!”

“Great place to socialize your dog and let it stretch its legs off leash. Very well maintained. Multiple sections for both large and small dogs to keep them separate. Swimming area with a dock. Trails in the back for on leash walking, jogging, biking... Best days are when all park goers pay attention to posted guidelines keeping all safe and happy 😊”

“I feel I have to give this place a 5 Star to correct others giving this place an unfair 1 Star. This is a great little campground. I love the fact it is a true campground not a place full of people living here year round. The grounds are kept very nice and tidy. The pond is a nice place to go for a walk with the dogs and cast a fishing rod. There is a small dated playground but at least it is somewhere for the kids to play. The desk person was extremely nice as was the person who escorted us to the campsite. The sites are fairly level and rain drainage is great considering it has been raining for days there are no puddles to deal with. The laundry room was clean and had 5 washers and very fast drying vintage dryers. The bathhouse was extremely clean and in good working order. The key elements to a campground were met: clean, safe, level, good power, good water pressure, clean laundry room, clean bathhouse and a VERY reasonable price for water/electric. Now the downside is the train. It is about 50 yards from our site (we were 1 of the closest sites). However, we use the fan all night and keep the windows closed, so it drowns out the noise. But if you are a light sleeper or in a pop up/canvas sided camper you may have issues. The highway is close as well so you do hear the highway but only when outside walking around. For us that is a non issue. It is easy on and off the highway and gas stations nearby which makes it a great stop over place for a few days to visit the area and the Ark. We will definitely stay again if we are in the area.”

“Beautiful place, short on time so only did the one trail (yellow line) straight out to the river. There are several others, lots of shade and well cleared, marked. The welcome / educational center is terrific friendly & helpful staff with dozens of informative and some are hands on exhibits. Great place for children young or older. Next time planning to bike the entire place.”

“5 STARS - We stayed at Montgomery Bell State Park over the Veteran’s Day weekend. Fall foliage and cool temps made for a great camping weekend. Our campsite #85 had both water and 50/30 amp electric for $29 per night. The site was adequate size for our 27’ Airstream and truck, however big rigs will not fit on this site. The camp grounds were very clean and well maintained and the park has miles of hiking and mountain biking trails to explore. A very nice campground in a beautiful part of Tennessee.”
