“Lake Tye provides plenty for all ages. For the children there is a sizable varied play area which is near seating for the parents. For the sports enthusiast are plenty of #fishing areas, and a boat launch, although no lifeboats are provided, as well as a #skatepark, tennis court and sports field. Hiking, running and walking trails are a decent length. Swimming is also available. And of course there are a number of bird varieties to see including hawks and eagles occasionally. Bathrooms are available in the main park area. The park is well maintained. And although there are no food vendors on-site there are restaurants nearby. The only thing missing is an enclosed dog park area.”

What I don't like is that the turf needs to be cleaned badly or refine completely! The tire pieces that make up the backing is loose and makes kids feet completely black! “We stayed for one night June 4, 2022. There were many open sites. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable. The sites are all pull through and there is a picnic table and small charcoal grill at each site. The commissary and PX are within walking distance. Very clean and well maintained. Would stay here again. :)”

“I love the Umstead and I have hiked pretty much all of the trails. I love the Company Mills trail the most due to its proximity to my home and there is a stream where I can sit down for a while watching the water flow by. I could just take my lunch there and spend couple of hours in the woods. The second best is Sycamore trail as it varies in height and I use it when I am preparing for longer hikes, there is a secret off the road path to sit next to the dam where I can sit and each my snack or lunch. Also l the trail hugs the stream for good portion of the hike.”

“Great park for kids to play and ride scooters or bikes. I often walk laps while my son plays on the playground in the center. I like how the playground is fairly far from the road. It also has beautiful trees, which shade the play area especially. There are multiple metal picnic tables near the playground. Just know that during soccer season, one or more kids teams will be practicing there after school and on weekends.”
